I met some friends over lunch and put the decision on where to go in their hands. They chose El Agave Mexican Restaurant. For this particular review, we made our way to northwest Wichita and stopped by their Maize Road location.

Monday – Thursday: 11am – 9:30pm Friday – Saturday: 11am – 10pm Sunday: 11am – 9pm

Our lunch started with complimentary chips and salsa. The salsa was pretty standard for your Tex-Mex style restaurants. Still, that didn’t stop us from inhaling all the salsa we could.

I wanted to get something different this go around and went with the Huevos Con Chorizo which was two scrambled eggs with Mexican chorizo sausage served with rice & beans and three tortillas.

To be honest, I wasn’t expecting much,,, as my last few times to the El Agave out east have been less than stellar. But on this particular visit, I was very happy. I had breakfast for lunch and wasn’t mad about it at all. The mix of scrambled eggs and chorizo sausage was quite the combo. There was a memorable-grilled flavor to it, the rice was properly cooked and everything meshed well together.

Tex-Mex places can be hit or miss sometimes because the menus are so massive, but I was lucky enough to find a dish I really enjoyed.

My friends had the pollo bandido and crab enchilada and really enjoyed their meals; basically raving about it afterwards. So for this particular visit, we had happy diners all around.

To top it off, the service was fantastic. I was also happy they didn’t make me choose where to go because 9 times out of 10, my friends go, “Eddy, you’re the blogger, you tell us where to go.”
